Local people gather to find out more about Kilmarnock Road...

On Thursday 10 September, lots of people from the Owton Manor area visted Kilmarnock Road Community Centre to find out more about what happens in the Centre. 15 organisations which provice services in Hartlepool were on hand, including Citizens Advice, Thirteen Housing Group and Hartlepool Borough Council. Local charities such as Recovery Connections, PlayOut Hartlepool and the Greatham Foundation also came along. Check out our video of the event on Facebook.

The idea was to ensure that the community is able to access the services they need, and also to develop ideas about what else we can do at Kilmarnock Road to support and work with local people. There was a lot of interest in offering social activities such as coffee mornings and bingo nights, and also advice about benefit entitlement, employability, and maybe even opening a Social Supermarket selling good quality food at affordable prices.

Kilmarnock Road staff also provided some great food for those who attended.
